Palmistry: Ancient and Modern

Which Hand to Read?
The traditional interpretation: the non-dominant hand shows innate potential and what you were born with; the dominant hand shows what you've done with it — how your choices, experiences, and actions have shaped your nature. A responsible reading considers both: the dominant hand shows the current reality, the non-dominant hand shows the underlying potential.
The Life Line
Running from the base of the thumb across the palm toward the wrist, the life line is the most mythologized and misunderstood line. Contrary to popular belief, its length does not predict lifespan. Rather, the life line reflects your vitality, life experiences, and general approach to living. A long, deep, clear line: strong vitality and connection to life. A short or faint line: not "early death" but a more introverted, inner-directed life energy. Breaks in the line: significant life changes or disruptions. Forks at the end: major life direction changes in later life.
The Heart Line
Running across the upper palm from the edge toward the Jupiter (index) or Saturn (middle) finger, the heart line governs emotional life and relationships. A long line reaching to Jupiter: idealistic, romantic, generous with love. A line ending under Saturn: more pragmatic about love, emotions expressed more practically. A curved, smooth line: warm, emotionally expressive nature. A straight line: emotional reserve, thinking about feelings before expressing them. Breaks: significant emotional upheavals. Chains or fragmentation: emotional sensitivity and periods of heart difficulty.
The Head Line
Beginning near or shared with the life line and running across the middle of the palm, the head line shows mental style, communication approach, and intellectual orientation. A long, clear head line: strong focus and good memory. A short line: not lack of intelligence but a more intuitive, instinctual thinking style. A straight line: logical, practical, methodical thinking. A sloping line: imaginative, creative, intuitive. Very long and sloping: vivid imagination, sometimes difficulty separating imagination from reality.
