The Stone of Magic
Labradorite — with its spectacular play of iridescent color (labradorescence) — appears to contain entire galaxies within its grey exterior. Hold it flat in ordinary light and it looks like unremarkable dark stone. Tilt it, and the interior blazes with blues, greens, golds, and purples — a perfect metaphor for its core teaching: beneath the ordinary surface of life, extraordinary magic waits to be revealed.
According to Inuit legend, the northern lights were once caught in the rocks of Labrador, Canada (where the stone was formally discovered in 1770). An Inuit warrior, finding the rocks alive with aurora borealis, struck them with his spear to free the lights — though some remained trapped, creating labradorite.
Healing Properties
Psychic Activation and Intuition
Labradorite is among the most powerful stones for psychic development, activating both the Third Eye and Crown Chakras. It enhances clairvoyance, clairsentience, and clairaudience; strengthens the connection with spirit guides; and dramatically sharpens intuitive perception.
Aura Protection
While labradorite opens the aura to higher perceptions, it simultaneously seals it against energy leaks and unwanted influences. This combination — open to the high, closed to the low — makes it ideal for those who do energetically sensitive work: healers, therapists, psychics, and empaths.
Revealing Hidden Truths
Labradorite reveals what lies beneath surfaces — in situations, in people, and in yourself. It's used to illuminate the real reasons behind behaviors, uncover hidden opportunities, and perceive the meaning behind events that seem random or meaningless.
