Understanding the Chakra System
The chakra system originates in ancient Hindu and Yogic traditions, with roots in texts like the Vedas (1500–500 BCE) and the Upanishads. The word "chakra" means "wheel" in Sanskrit, describing how these energy centers are understood to rotate and process life force (prana).
While chakras cannot be directly measured by Western instruments, the system offers a powerful psychological and somatic map that many people find useful for understanding emotional patterns, physical symptoms, and spiritual development.
